•Says she was warm, caring sister
Delta State Governor, Sen Dr Ifeanyi Okowa on Sunday in Lagos eulogized the late Mrs Elizabeth Echegile, wife of former Nigerian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency, Amb Godson Echegile, describing her as very warm, caring, and loving sister.
Governor Okowa, who spoke at an Outing Service held at the St Andrews Anglican Church, GRA, Ogudu, Lagos for the late Mrs Echegile, said the fact that the church was filled to capacity was an eloquent testimony to the fact that she lived a life that impacted positively on so many people.
Earlier, Okowa had written the following about her in the condolence register: “You had the best of friendship to share with all Godson’s friends. We can’t forget the warmth of reception you accorded us all at any and every time we visited. God knows why He called you home so early. We are encouraged by your Christian life and love for all. Adieu, lovely sister”.
In his sermon, The Rt Rev James Odedeji, Bishop of Lagos West, said, death is a glorious exit because it marks the beginning of eternity with God and the beginning of eternal joy to Christians”.
The widower, Amb Godson Echegile, in his vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to Nigerians who stood by the family in sundry ways in their difficult moment and prayed that God will stand by them also.
The Outing Service was attended by many former and serving government functionaries from Delta State including the wife of the Governor, Her Excellency, Dame Edith Okowa; former Governor of the state, His Excellency, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan; Hon Victor Nwokolo, representing Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Tony Elekokwuri, representing Ika North East Constituency in the State House of Assembly; Mr Patrick Ukah, Commissioner for Information and his wife; Hon Chiedu Ebie, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education; Hon Kingsley Emu, Commissioner for Economic Planning.
Other dignitaries include, Rt. Rev (Dr) Nicholas Okoh, Primate, Anglican Church in Nigeria; Chief Lawrence Oshiegbu and his wife; Mrs Ivana Shenton; Dr Magnus Onyibe, former Commissioner of Information who represented Chief James Ibori; Hon Nduka Irabor and his wife and Dr Cairo Ojuogbo among others.
