The meeting that was held today by the PDP elders and leaders of Ndokwa East LGA was held to foster unity among PDP faithfuls in Ndokwa East LGA. The deputy speaker of Delta state house of Assembly Rt Hon Ossai Friday Osanebi also used the medium of the meeting to seek the input of the elders and leaders of PDP in Ndokwa East LGA into the Delta state 2017 budget that was recently presented to the state house of assembly by the governor. The need for regular meetings of PDP in Ndokwa East LGA was emphasised. As part of the resolution of the meeting, a marching order was given to all the wards in Ndokwa East LGA to hold a meeting in their ward before the end of November 2016.
The elders and leaders of PDP in Ndokwa East LGA frowned at the lackadaisical attitude of some govt appointees to party affairs. They frowned at the way some political appointees have refused to fund PDP meeting in their various wards. Rt Hon Olisa Imegwu promised the elders and leaders of the PDP in Ndokwa East LGA to sponsor the meeting of his ward (ward 5) this week Saturday.
The various persons that spoke included, Rt Hon Ossai Friday Osanebi the deputy speaker of Delta state house of assembly. Rt Hon Olisa Imegwu former speaker of Delta state house of assembly. Barr Sam Chukwuji former Chairman of Ndokwa East LGA. Hon Engr Alex Anichie former chairman of Ndokwa East LGA. Chief Godswill Obielum the Delta North PDP leader, Chief Emmanuel Onyuku Chairman of the board of College of Education Agbor, Chief Tony Uti among others.
On the issue of the project for Ndokwa East LGA in the 2017 budget. The deputy speaker introduced the topic and pleaded with the elders and leaders of PDP in Ndokwa East LGA on the need for them to agree on a particular road project. He was quick to state that he knows that all the communities in Ndokwa East LGA need road but we have to consider the most important road that can be done by the state government bearing in mind the current financial status of the state. Various roads came up for consideration which include: 1. The bridge across Ase creek linking Beneku and Utagba-Ogbe. 2. The Akarai-Onyah road. 3. The Iyede-Ame road. 4. The Aballa-Utchi road. 5. The Ibedeni-Ase road. 6. The Iselegu-Inyi-Onuaboh road. e.t.c.
On the Beneku bridge, the deputy speaker informed the gathering that he will need the consent of Ndokwa West LGA before that bridge can be done, due to the fact that the bridge will affect both LGA. A suggestion was made on the Akarai-Onyah road, for the state government to construct the needed culverts on the road as this will make the road accessible. The issue of the constituency project for 2017 budget was also discussed in the meeting. After an elaborate discussion the elders and leaders of PDP concluded that the deputy speaker should decide the projects to be done in Ndokwa East LGA for 2017, both his constituency project and the road project to be included in the 2017 budget.
The deputy speaker promised to continue to do his best to be holding regular meetings with members of his party in Ndokwa East LGA. The meeting lasted for over 3 hours and the people thanked the deputy speaker for representing their interest very well in the current DTHA.
