THE Director representing Delta North in the Board of the Direct Labour Agency (DLA), Hon. Smart Meka has assured the people of Ugiliamai Community in Ndokwa West local government area of Delta State that the Ugiliamai/Ossissa road would be constructed by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa's administration.
Addressing the Okpala-Uku of the community, HRH Opia Egiliga, the Onotu-Uku, Chief Johnson Igwe, Chiefs and members of the community today (02/11/16) during an inspection visit to the road, Hon. Meka said, "the administration of Governor Okowa's administration came with the SMART agenda with special interest in rural road development, the road we are talking about, the Ugiliamai/Ossissa road transverses through two local government areas - Ndokwa West and Ndokwa East and its construction will ensure easy access to the markets and movement of agricultural produce to the cities and other towns."
"I have seen the road and I know the benefits of developing the road, be rest assured that we will do our best to ensure that road is constructed very fast because, it is in line with the desire of our Governor, Senator Okowa for rural communities to be opened up," he said, adding, "we should continue to pray for the governor, continue to pray for the state and pray for those who are destroying pipelines to embrace peace, let the bombing of pipelines stop because without the resources, the governor will not work effectively, he needs the resources and peaceful environment to execute his programmes," Hon. Meka said.
He emphasized, "we have the best Governor in Nigeria today, Governor Okowa has the mindset to work, let us give him that opportunity to work for our benefits."
The Okpala-Uku who spoke through, Chief Emmanuel Onyia thanked Hon. Meka for his interest in the construction of the road, stating that the construction of the about 7 kilometre road which will pass through Nkpoji to connect roads leading to Ogume, Obiaruku, Abraka would ease the challenges of the people in conveying agricultural produce to the cities.
He also, used the occasion to call for the provision of electricity in the community, disclosing that the socio-economic life of the people have been affected greatly as a result of lack of electricity supply in the community.
Mr Anslem Nmor, Youth Leader of the community in his contribution, said,, "since 1999, we have been supporting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the construction of this road will be one of the greatest benefits our people will be getting from the PDP in the state."
"Apart from projects attracted by Senator Patrick Osakwe from the Federal Government, there is no project that was executed by any state government in the community, that is why we are happy that Governor Okowa has remembered us, we thank him as we believe that the road will be constructed," Mr Opone said, assuring, "the youths of our community are very peaceful and nobody will disturb any work done by government."
