There was pandemonium on Thursday afternoon as men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps attached to the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, Oghara allegedly brutalized one Mr. Temisa Ofuya, a staff of the hospital following yet unknown reason.
According to eye witnesses and staff of the hospital who spoke to our correspondent stated that they were surprise with the way and manner men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps do harass staff of the hospital, stressing that staff has suffered a lot from the NSCDC men in the hospital.
Contacted on the development, the Chairman of Medical and Non Medical Health Workers Union of Nigeria, MEHWUN, DELSUTH chapter, Comr. James Ufuomanefe Isiosio confirmed the incident, describing the incident as unacceptable, calling on the NSCDC authourities to investigate those involved in the act.
He explained that the NSCDC men has sometime in 2016 also brutalized a married woman, Tina Ayonuwe and Sunday Akpodinor who were staff of the institution, while calling on the institution management to investigate the rationale of the alleged gun shots at the staff, with the view of calling them to order.
Comr. Isiosio urged management of the institution to use the internal security of the hospital and send the NSCDC packing within 24 hours to avoid the wrath of the union.
Irked by the development, it was gathered that some angry staff of the hospital swooped on the Divisional Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps who according to the Divisional Officer who came to the institution to resolve the issue, but was allegedly hit with a car believed to be a staff of the institution.
A visit to the hospital by our correspondent observed that the NSCDC boss, Mr. Mike and the staff that was brutalized by the men of the Corp are currently receiving treatments at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital at the expense of the hospital management.
According to the Divisional Officer, Mr. Mike who also spoke to our correspondent in his hospital bed denied the allegation of his men pointing guns at the institution staff, averred that his men only shut at the air, as at when the angry hospital staff made attempt to disarm his men.
Unconfirmed report says that the union has perfected plans to shut down the hospital if the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC resume work at the hospital.
