In what many had hitherto defined as impossible, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Patani Local Government Area of Delta state, today held her maiden stakeholders meeting in the party Secretariat since Comr Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu takes the leadership of the party at the LGA. With hundreds defying the scorching sun to attend, the party Secretariat could have been mistaken for a Mecca of sort. In his opening speech, the Local Government Party Chairman, Comr. Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu, restated the party’s commitment to the development of the populace adding that the PDP remains one United party.

“I want to welcome you all to our party’s first stakeholders meeting, as you all know the Peoples Democratic Party is always and would always be committed to providing sustainable development to the people. We must have all heard about the factions that are coming up, but I want to assure you that PDP is one, at the Ward, State and Zonal levels, there is jobs faction, we have no court case and we are solidly behind Makarfi. I must add that Governor Okowa’s administration has approved a lot of contracts for us here in Patani, a few days ago he called me to inform me that any Patani son or daughter who graduates from the skill acquisition centre in  Bulu-angiama would be given starter packs to ensure that poverty is wiped out of the LGA.”

While dishing out his achievements in office, Comr Asiuwhu added that “for the first time in the history of the party in the Local Government, we had the Ward to Ward inauguration of Ward excos, we were able to strengthen the Party at all levels amongst many others things we have done to grow the party.”

On the restoration of electricity, the party leaders in their usual selflessness contributed half of the #7 million needed to bring electricity to  the Local Government. The Ward Chairmen who gave their reports to the people, were excited that the party Chairman had deemed it necessary to organise an extended meeting of all party stakeholders in the LGA.

In his remarks, Capt. Pius Sinebe pointed out that the present crop of leadership in the Local Government had performed far above expectations. Also Hon. Timi Tonye, the House of Assembly members representing the good people of Patani, added that all hands are on deck to see to it that the people of Patani receive the dividends of democracy.

“There are a lot of things we the leaders in the LGA are doing that we do not speak often about. As Jude Sinebe said, we both speak daily and work together to ensure that our people aren’t short-changed, just recently when I spoke to His Excellency the most distinguished Sen Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa about the state of our model school he promised to renovate not only ours but all other model schools in the state, that is to tell you that the PDP led administration in the state is committed at ensuring prosperity even for the young Deltans” he said.

In his closing remarks, Comr. Godspower charged the people not to stop voting in the PDP, as the PDP would never stop delivering the dividends of democracy to the populace.

Highlight of the event was the motion moved by the leader of the house for a Vote of confidence to be passed on the Delta State Governor, His Excellency Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, his Deputy Barr Kingsley Otuaro, the state party chairman, Barr. Kingsley Esiso, the Council Chairman, Mrs Josephine Abeki, the LGA party Chairman, Comr Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu and the House of Assembly, moly member representing the good people of Patani LGA, Hon. Timi Tonye. The motion was seconded by Bode Oyindenyefa.
