Thursday, 11-05-2017 will forever remain a memorable day in the lives of the people of the ancient Emu kingdom in Ndokwa West LGA in Delta state as elected and appointed representatives of the Local Government Area empowered the people with cash and other items in a bid to make them independent as promised by the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa's led administration.
It would be recalled that leaders of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, in Ndokwa West LGA have been on tour around several wards empowering the people and putting smiles on their faces.
Declaring the rally open, the Local Government Area Chairman of the PDP, Ogbuefi Lucky Okuji thanked the people of ward Ten for their huge turn out for the day's event and consistent support for the party. " I have no doubt that this ward is a PDP ward". he maintained.
He went further to announce the empowerment as follows; "Hon Azuka Azaka, member representing Ndokwa West Constituency in the state House of Assembly donated the sum of #550,000, Hon Ernest Ogwezzy, Commissioner Bureau for Special Duties donated the sum of #500,000, Sir Monday Onyeme, Chairman Delta Board of Internal Revenue donated the sum of #425,000.
Those who also donated to empower the people of Ward Ten include; The Chairman of Ndokwa West LGA, Hon Chris Osakwe who gave the sum of #250,000, Chief Godday Ngbabego Special Assistant to Sen.Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa on Special dutiesduties, gave the sum of #300,000, Uguna foundation supported with the sum of #250,000, Hon. Raphael Ubogwu gave #200,000 and Hon. Ijeoma Ayebi who donated #100,000.
The crowd was uncontrollably happy as the chairman read out the names of beneficiaries one after the other and instant cash given by the person offering the empowerment.
Speaking on behalf of the PDP leaders who empowered the people, Hon. Azuka Azaka urged the beneficiaries to use the monies given to them wisely and be good ambassadors of the ward, LGA, state and Nigeria at large while calling on them to continue to support the government of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as he is determined on taking prosperity across the state.
Other dignitaries present at the ceremony include; Hon. Charles Emetulu, Engr. Dan Ossai, Dr Godwin Iwegbue, Hon. Sunday Ozege, chief Charles Izege, Hon. Isaac Enubuje among othersothers.
