    MR ALEX OKUNBOR DONATES WELDING AND FABRICATION EQUIPMENT TO AGBOR TECHNICAL COLLEGE



    A current affairs analyst,  crusader for good governance, philanthropist and strong supporter of governor Okowa,  Mr. Alex Okunbor Ehi Alex has donated welding and fabrication equipment worth millions of naira to the newly revamped Agbor Technical College to boost technical education in the state. The equipment  includes two modern start-welding machines, cutting tools, Metal Fabrication Accessories and many other engineering  tools.

    Delivering the machines to the school management on Thursday 27th October, 20016 , Mr. Alex Okunbor, who is the MD,  PeaceAlex Engineering Solution said technical education in any part of the world remains the easiest and fasted means of acquiring basic skills needed to be self reliant and secure the future especially the youths .

    According to him,  the gesture is to help impart technical knowledge in the pupils in line with governor Okowa's S.M.A.R.T agenda. He further disclosed that the donation of the machines described by engineers as better and more sophisticated than existing ones will not end with the Agbor Technical College but to other Technical Colleges in Ofagbe , Ogor , Utagba-Ogbe and Sapele.

    Receiving the equipment, the principal of the school, Mr. Jude Owabor while thanking Mr. Okunbor said the donation is first of its kind in the history of the technical college . He assured Mr. Okunbor that the equipment will be put into proper use by the students and called on other politicians and other well meaning individuals to emulate this rare kind gesture.

    In his words, "In the past, we have neither seen nor used this kinds of modern equipment which I believe will unprecedentally help to foster and fast track technical knowledge to the students and am also certain that with this feat, the sky will not be the limit of our students but starting point.

    Mr. Tony Nwaeti who represented the  Board of Technical and Vocational education and witnessed the donation of the machines while expressing deep appreciation to Mr. Alex Okunbor commended the governor for his foresight, insight and initiative to improve technical education in the state.

    Meanwhile,  students of the Agbor Technical College has constructed an Helicopter and the school management is now calling on private and public sectors to contribute in any way they can to enhance further production. The Agriculture department of the school has also gone deep into poultry and tomato production and all things being equal, during the Christmas season,  tomatoes and chickens will not be imported from the Northern Nigeria to Delta state.

    Moreso., Mr. Micheal Akpobire, the Executive Secretary of Technical and Vocational Education Board and Mr. Smart Ikem, first member in the board called on other Deltans to emulate Alex Okunbor by donating and supporting governor Okowa to move techincal education in the state to the next level

    It will be recalled that previous administrations in the state delibrately ignored or abandoned technical education but thank God for governor Okowa, who in keeping to his campaign promises has chosen to do things differently by revamping and refurbishing technical colleges in the state.
