Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose has reiterated that his election was legitimately funded. In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on public communications and new media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose urged the Buhari led Federal Government to focus more on alleviating the hunger threatening to kill the Nigerian people as project “Fayose must be implicated at all cost” will not put food on the table.
The governor was responding to reports making the waves revealing that Obanikoro gave him N4.7billion to prosecute his election in 2014.
He said, “We have gone pass this stage of media trial, EFCC should rather keep its gun powder dry, when we get to the bridge, we will cross it. They said more than this in the 2006 poultry scam blackmail, despite that, I am the governor today.”m
The governor also stated that those who arranged Obanikoro’s return to the country obviously did so in continuation of project “Fayose must be implicated at all cost”. He dismissed the claims that his elections were funded by the former Minister of State for Defence through the office of Colonel Sambo Dasuki, who was the National Security Adviser at the time of the election, reiterating that his election was legitimately funded.
Fayose went further to state that if the arrest and intimidation of Judges and the Judiciary had anything to do with him, it will surely fail as “no man can play God”.
He urged the Federal Government to look for ways to put an end to the hunger ravaging in the land, and emphasized his commitment to the welfare of the people of Ekiti State in particular, and the development of the State in general.
