The Lawmaker representing Ukwuani Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman House Committee on Transport, Hon(Dr.) Alphonsus Ojo has commended the state Governor, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa for heeding to the cries of Deltans on the Agbor-Urhonigbe-Umutu road as he sets machineries in motion to bring to an end, the untold hardship being suffered by commuters on the ever busy Agbor-Urhonigbe -Umutu road occasioned by the deplorable and ugly state of the road.
The Lawmaker gave the commendation at Asaba, yesterday while fielding questions from newsmen, shortly after the presentation of the 2017 budget to the house by the state Governor. He commended the Governor for his prompt reaction to the said road after the House adopted a resolution, asserting that the bad state of the Road before the commencement of the rehabilitation had caused untold hardship to motorist and other road users.
The lawmaker while commending the Governor for his proactive actions noted that the road in question is a federal government road and have been severely neglected by the Federal Government.
Hon.Ojo urged the contractor handling the Road rehabilitation to ensure that quality job is done inline with present day international best practices.
The Lawmaker maintained that with the ongoing repairs on the failed portions of the road, there will be free flow of traffic on the road and criminal elements will be easily dislodged from the road. He expressed optimism and hope that the repairs on the road which has reached an appreciable stage would be completed soon.
Hon Ojo while commending the Governor's high managerial acumen, as exemplified in the Prudent management of the lean resources accruing to the state as a result of the economic recession, equally used the opportunity to also call on all Deltans to remain supportive of the Governor Okowa led prosperity for all Deltans government, assuring them that the Governor's avowed prosperity mantra will get to all nooks and crannies of the state.
