The police in Asaba, Delta state on Friday arrested eighty five years old robbery suspect and five others for allegedly robbing residents of the area at different locations.
Police commissioner in the state, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, gave their names as follows: Opone Kizitto 85years, Arinze Sunday, Otutu Ashebudike, Ojio Kpa Chukwunalu, Basil Oshugbo and Ossai Godwin, adding that the suspects were beings detained at the state police headquarters for further investigation.
It was gathered that the suspects had allegedly been involved in breaking and entry around Abraka community, Asaba and other environs before nemesis caught up with them. The police boss explained that the suspects were arrested based on a tip-off and useful information from members of the public on their criminal activities.
In another development, unidentified thieves on Thursday stole a motorcycle belonging to a church member in a new generation church in Ibusa community, near Asaba while service was in progress.
Reports said the church (name withheld) had been a frequent worship centre where robbers often steal motorcycles belonging to members during church proceedings. Police in Ibusa who did not want their names in the print confirmed that efforts were being made to track down the thieves. But the owner of the motorcycle, Henry Ofone said “I got the motorcycle on hire purchase, where will I get money to pay the balance barely six months ago”.
