    Erosion: World Bank Hails Delta For Counterpart Fund Payment


    The United Nations has commended Delta State Government in its commitment to checking soil erosion and the payment of its N5000 million erosion project counterpart fund.

    Giving the commendation during their visit to erosion sites at Okunzu, Boji-BojiOwa, in Delta North, the leader of the World Bank group on soil erosion control and management, Dr. Amos Obu, said the aim of their visit was to enable them assess the level of soil erosion and its effect in the state with a view to enabling the World Bank to know how best to curb in.

    He said, the World Bank was prepared to help the state nip soil erosion in the bud and revealed that, already, the World Bankhad spent N500 million in the fight against soil erosion in Nigeria.
