FAYOSE VISITS FANI-KAYODE IN EFCC DETENTION

EKITI State governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, on Tuesday used a stone to kill two birds when he visited the detention facility of the EFCC to show solidarity to a former aviation minister and director of the defunct Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign council, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode and also to have a feel of where he would most likely be kept at the end of his tenure .

Governor Fayose, who dressed in a pair of trouser and shirt with a fez cap, arrived at the EFCC headquarters at Wuze 2, Abuja, around 3 45p.m. and departed about 45 minutes later.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after, Fayose condemned the continued detention of Fani-Kayode, despite the fact that he had earlier been granted bail by the court, saying the action of the EFCC was vendetta.

Governor Fayose. who said Fani-Kayode was in the good spirit when he met him, however, declared that he could not attest to “how the state of his accommodation is,” as they only met inside an office within the EFCC.
He, however, called on the Federal Government and the EFCC to stop playing god and allow the former minister to enjoy the bail earlier granted to him by the court.
While the governor said “Fani-Kayode is a responsible man who won’t jump bail,” he questioned the rationale behind his continued detention, since the EFCC had resolved to arraign him tomorrow.

Speaking on his mission to the commission, he said “I am here to visit and identify with my friend, Chief Fani-Kayode. I came to Abuja yesterday and I am being my brother’s keeper. I felt that within the 24 hours that I will spend in Abuja, I have to visit him.”
