The Kwara State government is set to intensify road repair and construction project across the state.
Alhaji Aro Yahaya, the State Commissioner for Works and Transport made this known on Wednesday during an inspection visit to ongoing and just completed road projects in different parts of the State.
The commissioner, who expressed the determination of the Governor Ahmed-led administration to ensure that all major roads within the State are in good shape, noted that contractors have since been mobilized back to site.
While inspecting the ongoing Share/Oke-Ode section 1 and 2 road projects in Ifelodun local government area of the State, Alhaji Yahaya, urged contractors handling the projects to fast track the pace of work and seize the advantage of the incoming dry season to complete the projects.
The Commissioner assured that the State government will continue to provide the necessary resources to the contractors to ensure the speedy completion of the road projects.
Speaking on the just completed rehabilitation of the 550-meter Oniju/Olore road and the 1.7km CAC road in Babanloma, Allhaji Yahaya described the road projects as a fulfilment of the promise made by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed during his electioneering campaign to the people of the community.
While thanking the people of the community for their support to the State government, Alhaji Yahaya appealed to the road users to drive within the speed limit.
The Works commissioner also visited the ongoing construction of the 2km Oloro Palace road at Okerimi in Oro town and the ongoing Ilala bridge project.
On the collapsed Bailey bridge in Moro local government area of the State, Alhaji Yahaya disclosed that the State government is putting in place necessary machinery to fix the bridge.
