The governor made the call (11/11/16) at Aviara, Isoko South local government area of Delta State during a funeral service conducted by the Apostolic Church of Nigeria for late Deaconess Johana Agabri, mother of Hon. Prince Johnson Erijo, member representing Isoko South constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly.

"When our different homes are at peace, our state will be peaceful and we will have a peaceful nation," Governor Okowa said, emphasizing, "we should build our families according to the words of God and ensure that we have united, peaceful families which will transcend to a better society."
While noting that the deceased was described severally as accommodating and prayerful, Governor Okowa urged the people to live a Godly life, a life of service to humanity.
"We must seek salvation continuously, it is no longer about Mama, but, about us who are alive today, funeral service such as this is for us to realize that there is still time for us to reconcile with our God," he said.
Pastor James Offor who preached at the occasion, said, "death is inevitable, the worst thing that befalls a man is when you die without acknowledging Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour; are you going to die as one who has accepted Jesus? To prepare for our death, we should live a life in agreement with God."
