    Okowa Performs Ground-Breaking For Multi-Million Naira Mechanic Village


    As part of efforts to ensure a more organised city, the Delta State Governor, Senator, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has performed the  ground breaking for a multi-million naira ultra modern mechanic village in Asaba.

    Performing the ground breaking ceremony (10/11/16), Governor Okowa assured Deltans of his commitment towards ensuring better and organised cities in the state through partnership with private investors.

    According to him, "Delta State government alone cannot fund all the physical projects we are embarking on, we will continue to partner with the private sector to see how our people will get good dividends of democracy."

    "I am impressed with the level of work done so far, it shows commitment on the part of investors, because, we signed a  memorandum of understanding few months ago, we have also, signed memorandum of understanding with the private sector for development of parks in other cities and for the development of the energy sector," Governor Okowa said, adding, "we will continue to be pro-active and provide an enabling environment for investors to thrive."

    He stated that Delta State is conducive for business to thrive because, "we believe that when they (investors) come, there will be job opportunities for our youths and of course, there is high return on investments in our state, so, all that we see is a win-win situation for all stakeholders."

    In a welcome address, the Commissioner For Transport, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan, said the project was a public/ private partnership between Delta State Government and Rehomes Property Development Limited to boost urban renewal in the state and ensure that mechanics are concentrated at a place within the state capital.

    He stated that the project would house over 900 workshops, car wash, police station, bank and other facilities that would give Asaba a befitting aesthetics where Nigerians can purchase auto parts, repair their automobiles and cater for all categories of mechanics and ancillary businesses.

    The Executive Assistant to the Governor on Investment, Mr. Paul Nmah, said the investors were convinced that the SMART agenda was a valuable platform for businesses to strive and commended Governor Okowa for his resolve to give investors the opportunity to contribute their quota to the development of the state.

    In an address, the Project Director of ReHomes Property Development Company Limited, Mr. Chinedu Monu, said,  "the project is modeled to be a one stop shop that will build capacities through training and skills acquisition for our youths and it will house many other ancillary services and infrastructure like banking, fire service, clinics, police post, conveniences, restaurants, business centres,  a large central park, a skill acquisition central, etc and I can assure you that no such project will match it in Nigeria."

    "The object of partnering with the state government to construct this ultra modern market is to give our state capital a befitting aesthetics and for our auto engineers and spare parts dealers; a state-of-the-art workshops and auto parts stalls where all Deltans and in fact Nigerians can purchase all manner of auto parts as well as repair their automobiles with the latest state of the art technologies and equipment in a most convenient and serene environment."
