    ONYEME BOOST STUDENTS’ ACADEMICS WITH N3.1 MILLION

    THE Chairman, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Chief Monday Onyeme has boosted the academic future of some students of Mixed Secondary School, Onicha Ukwuani with financial assistance to the tune of N3.150 million

    The maiden “Odozi-Ani” scholarship and Empowerment scheme was organized by “Onicha-Ukwuani Foundation”.
    While presenting the financial awards in cheques, Chief Onyeme noted that the gesture was informed by his desire to give back to nature for his numerous blessings from God.
    He explained that he decided to channel the programme towards educational and academic sectors in order to assist in building the youths and the nation.
    He emphasized that the scholarship and financial assistance was to uplift the students seeking to start polytechnic and university institutions of learning. He said that the scheme would be an annual event, adding that the donation was also meant to encourage and psyche up academic spirit among Onicha-Ukwuani youths, while advising parents and guardians to always give their children and wards the support, especially in their various educational pursuits, Chief Onyeme also urged other indigenes of Onicha-Ukwani to join hands in moving the communities forward.
    He commended the officials of Onicha-Ukwuani Foundation for a successful organization of the award ceremony and called on all Onicha-Ukwuani indigenes to rally round the foundation in the struggle to move the clan to the desired level.
    In a separate interview, the General Coordinator of the six sub- committees of Onicha-Ukwuani Foundation, Hon. Orji Ossai explained that the 30 beneficiaries of the award participated in an aptitude test for qualification among 125contestants.
    Hon. Oriji advised other students who did not scale through to see the scheme as a motivator to redouble their commitment to their academic studies and activities. He congratulated the winners and beneficiaries and tasked them on keeping the flag flying. Among the 30 beneficiaries include Miss Otuole, who got N175, 000 emerging 1st in the aptitude test, Nzete Edi love emerged 2nd and received N150,000 cheque, while Odalonu Ekene got N125,000 as the 3rd contestant.
    The other 27 beneficiaries got N100, 000 each.
    One of the parents of the benefiting students, Mr. Augustine Esumeobi, who spoke on behalf of others, said that the ceremony was a first of its kind in the history of Onicha-Ukwuani.
