Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has called on newly wedded couples to make God the major focus of their existence as this is one sure way of living a happy life.
He made the call after the traditional marriage ceremony between Alan Douglass, a German, and Miss Chinenye Ajagu, daughter of the Chairman, Board of Directors, Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Warri, Barr. (Mrs.) Felicia Ajagu, held in Lagos.
Mr. Ukah, accompanied by his wife, Barr. Mrs. Perpetual Ukah, congratulated the couple on their successful marriage and advised them to avoid any third party in their family affairs irrespective of the circumstances.
In his remarks, Eze Obioha Okeke, who doubled as Royal Father of the day and Chairman of the occasion, emphasized the place of the family in any society and advised that people should do everything they can to protect the sanctity of the family anywhere they may be in the world.
He recalled that the dowry and other traditional rites have been settled in the village. He said “we do not sell our daughters but only give them out in marriages and pray they live peacefully together with the men of their choices”.
Dignitaries who graced the ceremony, which took place at the Grandeur Event Center, Oregun, Lagos, were the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Comrade Ovuozorie Macualay, member of the Board of Directors of DBS, Warri, Hon. Muebi Idise, the National President of the Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce (NACC), Maxi Sam Ohuabunwa, and the Special Assistant to the wife of the Governor of Delta State, Mrs. Tase Odibo, among others.
