THE Delta State government has said that it will continue to give priority attention to the health needs of Deltans by ensuring effective and efficient health care delivery system in the state.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nicholas Azinge stated this while flagging off the free health care programme of Dr. Isioma Okobah Foundation in Asaba yesterday.
He commended Dr. Okobah for single-handedly bank rolling the programme for some years now, saying that the initiative which is in line with the rural health care programme of the state government, had immensely addressed the health challenges of the people.
The commissioner who reiterated the present administration’s commitment to partnering with the foundation in putting smiles on the faces of the people via medical treatments, called on Deltans to always avail themselves of government health facilities whenever they need medical attention rather than resort to self medication or patronize quacks
.
While maintaining that health is wealth, Dr. Azinge applauded Governor Okowa for the Universal Health Insurance Scheme and advised Deltans to key into the programme to enable them access quality and affordable health care in the state.
Azinge also commended the Medical Students from State University, Georgia, Atlanta, United States of America for partnering with Dr. Isioma Okobah Foundation in giving medical treatment to our people and urged the President of the Foundation, Dr. (Mrs.) Isioma Okobah to keep the flag flying.
In her remarks, Dr. Okobah said the free health care programme is her own little way of giving back to the society, adding that it is her passion to bring solutions to the health needs of the people, especially those at the rural areas.
In an interview, some of the beneficiaries of the programme which featured CPR demonstration, free medical treatments, health education, checking of blood pressure and sugar level, eye examination and free eye glasses, commended Dr. Okobah for her philanthropy and kind gesture, praying God to continue to bless her and enlarge her coast.
