Throughout history, there have been many people remembered for their courage and struggle to promote peace. Whether it was Martin Luther King Jr. in his fight for rights for African Americans or Nelson Mandela's leadership in South Africa. Today, looking up to the people who fought peacefully and respectfully to maintain peace within the Ndokwa nation, one person out of this modern day peacemakers stands out most to me and that is no other than Hon Nnamdi Ezechi, the Honorable Commissioner representing Ndokwa Nation on the board of DESOPADEC.
This man have helped people and communities gain the peace they deserved in Ndokwa nation and beyond without using violent methods or heavy presence of security personnel.
Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi is one man who have reminded us of our goal, he is the one who have reached equilibrium among the different conflicting communities within the Ndokwa Nation. He carried the fragile Ndokwa Nation on his scarred and bruised shoulders.
Merriam Webster once defined a peacemaker as “A person who helps to prevent or stop an argument, a fight, or a war.''
A peacemaker is someone who reaches balance between the two conflicting parties, but they are so much more. Hon Nnamdi Ezechi is one who took Ndokwa Nation as a whole and indivisible body, instead of dissecting it into religions, genders, or social ranks. Hon Nnamdi Ezechi is a man who is willing to get insulted, abused, and looked down upon just so he can make our communities, our society, our Ndokwa Nation a better place to stay mostly in this yuletide season, hence many won't have been able to return home this Christmas period to celebrate in peace with their friends and families.
“Peace is not something you wish for; it's something you make, something you do, something you are, and something you give away.” –Robert Fulghum.
Many people over the course of human history have attempted to bring us one step closer to world peace, including Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., and Malala Yousafzai, yet not a single person has achieved bringing peace to the world. Why? One person can make a difference, but it takes many people to make a huge impact and that is why each time you get to sit close to him, he takes his time to preach peace to you, to all Ndokwa nation, from the men to the women, from the old to the youths and to the children.
My family and my social studies teachers have enlightened me over the years and taught me how important it is to be placid. The succor of my family, the positive influence of international peacemakers, and my experiences with Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi have led me to better understand how accomplishments, success, and a positive milieu can stem from peace and today I make bold to say from the countless number of communal crisis Hon Nnamdi Ezechi has resolved and averted from his table as the Commissioner representing Ndokwa Nation on the board of DESOPADEC, without mincing words, he is our Ndokwa Nation peacemaker of the recent times.
On behalf of the entire Ndokwa and Anioma students and youths worldwide, I say thank you for your good works and may God continue to give you the strength to continually maintain peace for us within our Ndokwa Nation, Anioma Nation and Delta State at large and may God bless the capacity Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Comr. Osanebi Ossai Friday and His Excellency, Gov. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for giving the Ndokwa Nation this gift of well to do conflict resolver like Hon Nnamdi Ezechi.
I think a lot of people don't understand that there's a special reward for peacemakers because there is a big difference between a peace lover and a peacemaker. Everybody loves peace, but wearing jewelry around your neck and saying 'I love peace' doesn't bring it, hence Jesus said in Matt. 5:9 ''Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.''
