As a result of the allegation of corruption levelled against Babachir Lawal, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) , Mr President has directed Abubakar Malami (SAN), to probe all top government officials accused of corruption .
Mr. Garba Shehu (Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity), stated this in a statement and its reads:"The attention of the presidency has been drawn to a number of reports in the media, in which various accusations of corruption have been levelled against some top officials in the administration.
"In that regard, President Buhari has instructed the Attorney General of the Federation to investigate the involvement of any top government official accused of wrongdoing. If any of them are liable, they will not escape prosecution."
However, Garba Shehu did not mention names, but top government officials who have been accused of corruption so far, included the SGF, the Chief of Staff to the President Buhari, Mr. Abba Kyari; and Mr. Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the EFCC whose confirmation was recently rejected by the Nigerian as substantive Chairman of the EFCC .
