DELTA State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has said knowledge of God by politicians will bring about a better Nigeria where everyone will be happy.
The governor dropped the hint today (18/12/16) at a thanksgiving cum empowerment programme organised by the member representing Okpe, Sapele, Uvwie Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Evelyn Oboro.
The thanksgiving service took place at the Word of Life Bible Church, Warri while the empowerment programme for her constituents took place at the Osubi Trade Fair Complex, Osubi, also in Delta State.
According to Governor Okowa, "my prayer everyday is for every politician to know God because, it is then they can impact more on the lives of the people." He added, "always know that no matter the position you are holding, it is only possible because of God; you must attribute whatever you have, wherever you are to God and use it to impact on the lives of the people."
The governor who congratulated Hon. Oboro for always identifying always with her constituents called on politicians to avoid nursing grudges stating, "don't bear grudge against anybody and with such, we will have a better society."
Hon. Oboro in a speech, observed that since she gave her life to God, things have been easy for her, "this is the place I learnt the meaning of Lord's Prayer; it was here that I learnt how to forgive."
She attributed most of her success stories to Governor Okowa, disclosing, "Governor Okowa knew how I started as a Councilor on the platform of GDM (Grassroots Development Movement) platform; he has always encouraged me."
In a sermon, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor urged Christians to confess their sins because, "God will forgive your sins."
"Anyone who confesses his sins will be forgiven; if you hold on to your sin, you hold on to judgment; if God forgives you, no man can condemn you," he said, adding that Christians should always give thanks to God.
At Osubi, where Hon. Oboro gave out tricycles, motorcycles, deep freezers, generators, grinding machines, sewing machines and hair dryers, Governor Okowa commended political office holders for their commitment towards alleviating the sufferings of their constituents as a result of recession.
Those who spoke at the occasion include, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Chief Kingsley Esiso, former Chairman of the party in the area, Chief Tom Amioku, among others, observed that the empowerment programmes were clear evidence of the magnanimity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the biggest political party in Nigeria as the empowerment programmes cut across political party lines.
Excited Hon. Oboro assured her constituents of good representation at all times and thanked the people for their support.
