COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH PROMISES IMPROVED HEALTHCARE SERVICE DELIVERY IN THE STATE.

    IKA WEEKLY.

The Honourable Commissioner for Health in Delta State, Dr. Nicholas Azinge has promised improved Healthcare service delivery for Deltans as his ministry and the State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa are working round the clock to promulgate policies which would guarantee quality and accessible healthcare service for all Deltans. He stated this during the free healthcare programme organized by the member representing Ika Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Victor Nwokolo which took place at the Central Hospital, Agbor.

According to him; “the state government and the Ministry of Health are working tirelessly to pass into law the Delta State Health Insurance Scheme and the Agency for HIV/AIDS in the state. This is to afford Deltans at all levels the opportunity to access quality health service at subsidized costs.

The bill for the establishment of the HIV/AIDS agency has passed its third reading and in no distant time will be approved and passed into law by the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.” This agency is now necessary as lesser money and drugs are coming in from foreign partners like USAID and therefore the government has to find an agency which will adequately handle HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns for the prevention/treatment of the dreaded disease.”

He commended Hon. Nwokolo for the free health programme describing it as very timely, especially at this time of recession where the common people cannot afford quality healthcare due to scarce resources.

In his words; “this programme affords people the opportunity to gain free and quality healthcare on a variety of health issues. It also keys into the governor's SMART programme which includes quality healthcare for all Deltans. He called on more of such free health programmes and urged Ika people to come out in their numbers and participate in the programme.
