The hounrable commissioner for Health Delta State, Dr. Nicholas Azinge, today inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of Agbor central Hospital, inline with the Smart Agenda of his Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Governor of Delta State.
Speaking to news men during the inspection, Dr. Azinge commended the state Governor for his positive attention to the ministry of health towards its total transformation and bringing prosperity to the sector.
He continued by stating some of the achievement of the state government like the Infrastructural upgrades in all levels of care training institutions across the state; including primary health care, secondary health care and School of Nursing, the inauguration of Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Review (MPDSR) committee in line with the directives of the Federal Ministry of Health. Dr. Azinge further disclosed some other achievement of the state government/ministry of health like the inauguration of boards to facilitate achievements of their mandates, increased number of private medical facilities registered in the state, reduction in quackery through increased supervision of registered facilities and closure of unregistered clinics and improved supervision of private pharmacies, etc.
Furthermore, Dr. Azinge commended the Ika national USA, for donating a building to the hospital in other to complement the efforts of the state government, in their quest of transforming the Agbor Central Hospital to a world class, thereby bringing prosperity to all Deltans. He further assured the Association that the hospital management will ensure the safe use of the building.
In addition, the honourable commissioner stated that the public-Private partnership is being encouraged in several areas of health care system in other to boost the system and disclosed that some Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) are in process with local and International partners. He further assured Deltans of the state governor's intention of massively transforming the state health care system into a world class in the next six years, and "plans have been made towards its actualization", he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Azinge appealed to all Deltans to support the state governor with all patriotism, stating that the Governor is working tirelessly towards the fulfilment of his campaign promises and to deliver the total prosperity he had promised.
He also disclosed that the major rehabilitation at the Agbor Central hospital, which is the Accident Emergency Hall, will be done through steady supervision to ensure that the contractor delivers a good job, Dr. Azinge said.
