Silverbird : Sir, the spokesperson of the Ahmed Makarfi group in a statement said you forcefully unsealed the secretariat, what is your reaction to that ?
Dr. Ojougboh : My position or reaction to that is that he's been very very dishonest because he knows very well that there's a court of Appeal ordering the police to unseal and handover the party secretariat to senator Alli-Modu Sherrif and that order has been obeyed.
He's been dishonest because he's also a party to the agreement that whatever the judgement of the court of Appeal, both sides will obey it and that will now be a foundation for the negotiation which has already started.
He's being dishonest because he's also aware that even senator Makarfi and everyone of us are now discussing. All through the weekend, we all discussed.
He's being dishonest because he knows in his mind that we cannot leave the National Secretariat to die and decay. With the extent and level of renovation going on right now at the secretariat, is it not for the wellbeing of the party? Are we renovating the secretariat so that it becomes our personal property ? Enough is enough.
After the judgement, we all agreed that the Appeal court victory is not victory for Sherrif, not a victory for Makarfi, not a victory for the governors but a victory for democracy and for the party. We all agreed that there's no victor, no vanquish.
The victor in this case is the party and since then, dialogue and negotiation has continued but my very good brother who unfortunately wants to remain where he is because he's getting chunk and heavy disbursement from the governors of the South-South states does not want to know that he has reached the end of the dark tunnel through which he has been travelling.
He knows that if there's settlement and peace returns to the party that he's out because members of the caretaker committee does not belong to any group in the PDP. They are not members of the National Assembly, they are not in the governors forum, they are not in the National Working Committee, they are not in the National Executive Committee, they are not members of the Board of Trustees and they are not in the Elders Forum. So if peace returns to the PDP as negotiation is going on, there will be no basis for which they will be employed or called into it.
Silverbird : It is gathered that the Ahmed Makarfi group have appealed the Port Harcourt judgement . Is that true?
Dr. Ojougboh : They have not appealed anything because we have gone before the same court and to the Supreme court to tell them that they have no locus and that one will be addressed or decided first.
