NANS President, Comr. Aruna Kadiri, alongside Zone B Coordinator Comr. Pedro Chibuzor Obi, and some of other leaders who had earlier been arrested by some men of the Nigerian Police on order of UniPort’s VC, Prof. Ndowa Lale have be released.

Speaking after their release, Comr. Kadiri however insist on their demands which according to him is unconditional. “Our 23 expelled students must be called back unconditionally,” he stated.

He described the Vice-Chancellor of UniPort as “unfit to manage the institution”, calling for his immediate sacking.

Speaking further, Kadiri called on all zonal coordinators, students and willing stakeholders to join him tomorrow February 03, as they peacefully occupy UNIPORT.

“Prof. Lale (VC UNIPORT) MUST GO! He is not fit to manage the institution. He sent thugs to fight us, He sent police to arrest us, but He only further strengthens us. Join me as we peacefully occupy UNIPORT tomorrow 3rd Feb. Our 23 expelled students must be called back unconditionally,” he added.

Meanwhile, as we learnt, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rivers State, has apologised on behalf of the force, stating that “they don’t know the power of the NANS Presidency until today”.

NANS has also accepted the apology. The President speaking on behalf of others, stated clearly that the police men were lucky, because assuming they were detained, the story line could have been another story.

On the missing properties of the senators and other NANS officials, Kadiri insists that “they must be restored and for the damaged vehicles, the management will repair”.
Other NANS leaders arrested today includes:
    1. NANS Financial Secretary
    2. Chika Kessy Ossai
    3. NANS JCC Chairman, Delta

    5. NANS JCC Scribe, Rivers
    6. President, SUG of Anambra State Uni.

The zonal coordinator, Comr. Pedro, thanked all Nigeria students and senators, assuring that victory is sure and the struggle has just began.

Now that NANS has finally relocated its National Secretariat to UNIPORT, Pedro added that “we shall not leave UNIPORT until our colleagues are reinstated and the anti student VC gone”.
