DELTA State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has urged Nigerians to immortalize the member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Omawumi Udoh by assisting the less privileged.
Governor Okowa made the call today (24/03/17) at the funeral service of Hon. Udoh at Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, Warri. Hon. Udoh until her death, was a member of the Delta State House of Assembly representing Warri South ii constituency.
According to the Governor, "we are glad that we had an Honourable member, a truly Honourable member of the Delta State House of Assembly who was dedicated to her duties, committed to charity and showed great love for her people."
"She loved her constituents so much and my charge to you all is to keep her memory alive in your spirit by showing love to the less privileged as she did," the Governor said, solemnly saying, "we will miss her, we loved her, but, God loves her the most."
The Governor prayed for her family on behalf of the government and people of Delta State and urged them to always take solace in the fact that she lived a good life.
Earlier in a sermon, Rev. Fr. Benedict Ukutegbe stated that death remains a mystery but, Christians should always prepare for eternity.
"This is another opportunity to reflect on why we are here on earth, we pretend to be very busy; it is important that we ask ourselves what really gives meaning to our existence, how are we preparing for our last day on earth? As true Christians we should know that charity is very important because, we will give account of who we assisted while in earth," he said, reiterating, "people are suffering in this country, but, we can be better as a people, this country can be better; The Lord is calling on every one of us to live our lives trying to do good to others."
The Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi were among dignitaries who attended the funeral service.
