    OLOROGUN OKPARA TELLS DELTANS TO HOLD ELECTED AND APPOINTED REPRESENTATIVES ACCOUNTABLE


    Former commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning, Olorogun Kenneth Okpara, has urged Deltans to hold all elected and appointed representatives accountable with regards to realistic achievements, visible development, verifiable contribution to the economic, social and political betterment of Delta State

    Speaking at the convention organized by members of Urhobo Summit Group (USG) in Okpe Hall, Sapele , Olorogun Kenneth Okpara explained that there are mechanisms in place for ensuring accountability amongst officials, whether elected or appointed, in office
     
    "Government accountability is achieved through the use of a variety of mechanisms -- political, legal, and administrative -- designed to prevent corruption and ensure that public officials remain answerable and accessible to the people they serve. In the absence of such mechanisms, corruption may thrive"

    Following the rate of uncertainty, hardship, complains amongst the electorates, Hon. Okpara advised that franchise is the greatest weapon against an unworthy, nonchalant, ineffective elected or appointed official

    "The reelection campaign or reappointment drive of any politician  starts from his/her first day in office. The political score card of every politician should be strictly studied without sentiments. If voters are not satisfied with the performance of an official, they may vote them out of office when their terms expire". He said

    Meanwhile, in another statement, the erudite Financial expert, appreciated the present administration for its SMART agenda, Prosperity for all deltan drive, political maturity, peace and mutual tolerance, fair play and equitable implementation of the state's common wealth amongst all 3 senatorial district

    "Truth be said, the Sen. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa's led administration has acted above board going by what it has achieved with a lean purse, even in times of absolute recession as this. We appreciate The Executive and the House of Assembly for their good works ". He concluded
