    PDP stakeholders’ meeting postponed indefinitely

Efforts by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to regain its rhythm have failed to yield dividends as the party yet again failed to convene in a stakeholders’ meeting scheduled to hold in Gombe on Saturday.

The meeting billed to hold at Gombe International Hotel had been postponed indefinitely and new date and venue will be communicated to concerned parties as soon as the decision is made.

The PDP Chairman, North East, Dr. Emmanuel Njiwah said they were compelled to call off the meeting due to available security reports.

“Part of the agenda of the meeting was to discuss issues of concern to the North East zone following recent developments that have stained the good standing and reputation of our zone,” he said.

According to Njiwah, PDP in the Northeast zone also dissociate itself from the actions of one of their prominent members who walked out of the reconciliatory meeting held at Yar’adua Center on April 6.

He apologized to the convener of that meeting, former President Goodluck Jonathan and urged him not to relent in the efforts to find a lasting solution to the challenges currently confronting the party.

“As you may be aware that the PDP North East Zonal office had called for a stakeholders’ meeting scheduled to hold at the Gombe International Hotel main conference Hall on April 22, 2017.

“However, owing to security reports from the security agencies, we were compelled to postpone and called off the meeting indefinitely. A new date and venue will be communicated to parties concerned as soon as the decision is arrived at.

“In a related development on behalf of the overwhelming supporters of our great party in the North East zone, we wish to tender our unreserved apology to His Excellency, Former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“And to clearly put on record that the PDP in the North East dissociate ourselves from the unfortunate and lamented actions of one of our prominent members who walked out of the reconciliatory meeting held at Yar’adua Center on Thursday 6th of April, 2017 which was at the instance of the former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“As members and executives of the PDP in the North East zone, we strongly stand by the moves initiated by the former President and encourage him not to relent in his effort to find a lasting solution to the current challenges confronting our party,” Njiwah said.
