    The Delta state government today , signed a Memorandum of Understanding, Mou, with Akukwu Igbo community in Aniocha North local government area as part of its determined effort at developing agriculture and creating employment in the state.


    Signing on behalf of government, the Secretary to the state government, Hon. Festus Ovie  Agas assured that the parcel of land donated by the Akukwu Igbo community would be put to judicious use.

    He urged other communities in the state to emulate the community by donating lands for developmental purposes noting that it was the focus of government to develop the state and create jobs for its citizenry, especially in the agricultural sector.

    Earlier in his brief remark, the state Commissioner for Economic Planning. ,Dr Kingsley Emu, said that the donation of the 3000 hectrs of land by Akukwu  Igbo community was a very laudable gesture and described it as supportive of the policy thrust   of the Okowa led government.

    He thanked the community for the donation and reiterated government's desire to encourage agriculture in the state

    Responding on behalf of Akukwu Igbo community led by His Royal Majesty, Dr. Obi Azuka, the Obi of Akukwu Igbo, Mr. Ben Iwezue, thanked government for the initiative and expressed hope that the land would be used judiciously so as to justify the donation .

    Present to witness the signing of the Mou included the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Austin Chikezie, the Chief Hob creation Officer,Prof.Eric Eboh as well as the representative of the Ministry of Justice.
