Agriculture is the mainstay of Gombe State's Economy and Avenue that provides employment to over 70% of the State's population.
Gombe State Government under the Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo led administration has achieved the following in the Agricultural sector:
-Procurement and distribution of 60,000 metric tons of assorted fertilizers each and every farming season.
-Registration of 396,733 farmers for Growth Enhancement Scheme (GES) for two consecutive farming seasons.
-Purchase of 25,000 bags of fertilizer and 8000 units of water pumps for the support of flood victims and promotion of dry season farming.
-Purchase of 35 New Tractors and Re-furnishing of 25 old ones.
-Purchase of 25 sets of farm implements: ridger, harrow, plough, and trailer for a complete farming season.
-Purchase of 220 units of tractors.
-Procurement and distribution of 59,600 jatropha seedlongs and seeds.
-Procurement and distribution of 2, 280 work bulls and 1, 140 Ox-Drawn ploughs.
-Renovation of offices, warehouse/workshop.
-Construction of 46 cotton markets to encourage cotton production across the state.
-Purchase and selling of 65 metric tons of improved maize seeds to farmers at a subsidized rate.
-Payment of counterpart funds to Gombe State Leventis Agric Training school (Now, School of Agric of the Federal University Kashere),Fadama III, Sassakawa Global 2000, National Programme on Food Security (NPFS) and feasibility study on Tomato Value chain, as well as Rice/Sorghum.
-Renovation/Stocking of the state owned Poultry Production Unit (PPU) and training/empowerment of women in poultry farming.
-Employment of 147 tractor drivers and driver's mates.
-Construction of three ware houses, workshop sheds and offices at Gombe, Billiri and Balanga.
-Statewide Vaccination against three major diseases in cattle sheep and goats.
-Procurement of 20 units of 100 bird's capacity battery cages transportation crates and sprayers to control avian influenza.
-Construction of a Veterinary Hospital in Gombe and Veterinary Clinic in Yamaltu-Deba Local Government.
-Re-demarcation, surveying, documentation and mapping of major stock routes in the State, among others.
