Senator Barr Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, Aguejiejemba of Ibusa, the Oshimili of Akwukwu-Igbo Kingdom, Ochiagha of Anioma and the Oracle turned Miracle was born on the 29th of June, 1957. Had his Secondary Education in the famous St. Thomas's College, Ibusa where he bagged his Teacher's Grade Two (2) Certificate in flying colours. Senator Peter Nwaoboshi taught for a very short while, and proceeded to the University of Benin, Benin-City, where he bagged his First Degree in History but later went to read Law. In his quest for academic excellence, he proceeded to Delta State University, Abraka where he had his Masters Degree also in Law.
He was a practising Lawyer of no mean repute and a Politician spanning well over 36years.
As a hardworker who never relents in whatever he is out to achieve, he served his Political Masters with diligence, commitment and 100% loyalty. No wonder the Igbo Parlance: "A man who pays respect to the great, paves the way for his own greatness."
Today, Senator Barr Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi is a figure worthy of mention not only in Delta North Politics but also in Delta State & Nigeria as a whole.
Some of his Political Achievements:
a) Was a Political Aide to Governor Ambrose Ali of the defunct Bendel State.
b) Was Chairman NRC
c) Was the 1st State Secretary of PDP Delta State in 1998.
d) Was a Political Adviser to Governor James Onanefe Ibori, later Commissioner for Agricultural & that of Special Duties, Liaison Office, Abuja at different times respectively.
e) In 2008, he was elected Delta State PDP Chairman & in 2012 he was re-elected for a 2nd Term.
It is imperative to mention that Senator Barr Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi as Chairman, Delta State Peoples Democratic Part (PDP), weathered all storms to build a formidable, impregnable and unconquerable Party in Delta State.
During his tenure, he provided the Party Executives with official cars right from the State to Local Government. It is worthy of note, that as Chairman, he built a highly befitting State Party Secretariat(PDP) which the then National Chairman of the Party, Alhaji Mu'azu described as the best in the Country.
His dogged Political exploits paid off again in the Senate as he was appointed Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC) irrespective of his neophytism Senate.
Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi has since started making his marks in the Senate as he sponsored some Bills notably amongst them are -
a) A Bill for an Act to promote and regulate the Real Estate Sector 2015(dated 8th December, 2015) - for 2nd reading.
b) A Bill for an act to amend Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, CAP, C15, LFN, 2004(dated 22nd December, 2015) already passed into law.
c) A Bill for an Act to amend the Public Officers Protection Act, LFN, 2004(2015) - for 2nd reading.
D) A bill for an Act to amend the NDDC Act, 2017 - Assented by Mr. President.
E) A bill for an Act to establish a federal owned institution in Delta North (Kwale) - second reading.
And many others.
In term of infrastructural development, Senator Nwaoboshi has so far attracted (37) roads projects that have been fully constructed, excluding the ongoing ones.
Senator Nwaoboshi ensured the execution of NDDC projects through out the length and breath of Delta North Senatorial District, he attracted.
A recent study on Senator Peter Nwaoboshi's achievements has shown that Delta North Senatorial district of Delta State, Nigeria, is among the senatorial districts in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria with the highest Numbers of road construction projects, under the Niger Delta Development Commission.
The study also ranked Delta North, among the 10th senatorial districts, with the highest numbers of completed NDDC road projects between 2015-2018.
The aforementioned study by an Independent Association of Political WatchDogs also discovered that the presence of NDDC projects in the district, between 2015-2018 exceeded the roads projects that were executed in Delta North Senatorial District between 2013-2015.
It is imperative to note that the Skill Acquisition Centre Senator Nwaoboshi built for the good people of Anioma Extraction with location at Ika, Oshimili, and Kwale axis, will soon start operations.
Recently, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi empowered 784 persons aimed at boosting micro-credit business and cutting down the effect of recession in Delta North Senatorial District.
The 784 beneficiaries, who each received N50, 000 totaling N39.2 million, were selected from the nine Local Government Areas that make up the District.
It is expedient to note that as the voice of his people, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi fought tenaciously and ensured that Ndokwa Nation which is an oil producing area is included in the amnesty programme for Niger-Delta.
Senator Barr Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, from his antecedent, remains a well-informed person who knows the plight, feelings and the desire of the grassroots people of Anioma Extraction.
It is therefore on the huge achievements made by Senator Barr Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, that I make bold to say that his reelection bid to Senate in 2019 for a second term is assured.
