THE Senior Political Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Chief Festus Ochonogor says youths in the state are critical components of the current administration’s SMART agenda.Ochonogor spoke on Tuesday (11/10/2016) while addressing a cross section of community youth leaders from Delta North Senatorial District at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba where he noted that youths are fulcrum of Governor Okowa's SMART Agenda.
Okowa’s aide who was accompanied at the meeting by other notable politicians from the area including Rt. Hon. Olisa Imegwu and Hon. Engr. Emma Eboh to the meeting disclosed that plans were underway to organise a major empowerment programme for youths in the state.
Chief Ochonogor lauded the role played by youths in the state in ensuring peace and security, enjoined them to remain steadfast as the Governor Okowa-led government is poised on meaningfully investing in youths across the state.
According to Ochonogor, “The State government has set up a steering committee of which I am a member to plan a major empowerment programme for youths in the state to commence next year. I can assure you all that a lot of youths in the state will be engaged in the empowerment programme once the budget for next year is passed.”
The Senior Political Adviser assured the youths of the readiness of his office to collaborate with youth bodies in the state to ensure a realization of the Governor's SMART Agenda.
The interactive meeting was attended by Presidents of youth associations and clan unions in the nine local government areas of Delta North Senatorial District.
