Make Profitable Use of Your Time”, Gbegbaje Charges Public Servants

Permanent Secretary, Government House and Protocol, Mr Eddy Ogidi-Gbegbaje has urged public servants to make profitable use of their service time so as to prepare themselves for retirement.

Mr.  Ogidi-Gbegbaje who stated this [25-10-16] at a send- forth party organized by the  Catering Department of the Directorate for nine retirees said that public servants should utilise their valuable time to prepare for the challenges of retirement.

According to him, “ you have to make valuable use of your time in service as time waits for no one, use your time profitable to meet the challenges of retirement so that you can put through when it comes.”

“Retirement does not mean that you are tired, keep yourself busy and active with any profitable venture, engage in community and religious activities and contribute your quota to the development of your area”, he added.

He commended the retired staff for their meritorious service saying "35 years of meritorious service is worth celebrating as such you all have to thank God for his goodness in your lives, if you have not done thanksgiving to God for your retirement you better do so because you have all cause to thank him, it is not all that you started work with lived to retirement."

The Permanent Secretary disclosed that government was making all efforts to pay retirement benefits to its retirees and urged them to be patient and support government’s efforts to sanitise the pension system to ensure transparency.

He charged the retirees to be mentors to those in service and contribute their quota to the growth and development of themselves, family, communities and the state at large.

Responding on behalf of the retirees, Rev. Felix Afigho thanked the Directorate and department for the  honour done to them and charged the staff to be obedient, disciplined and show love to each other in the discharge of their duties.
