    DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT,CELEBRATE AFRICAN NATION YOUTH DAY



    Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has called on Youths to avoid acts capable of portraying them in bad light.Governor Okowa who was addressing Youths at the Delta State Youth House in Asaba Congratulated Youths as they mark their day and gave assurance that issues bordering on Youths will continue to receive special attention in his administration.

    Governor Ifeanyi Okowa represented by His Political Adviser Honourable Omimi Esquire condemned the incessant blowing up of Pipelines, Hostage Taking,  armed banditry and other social anti-social behaviours and advised Youths to join hands with Government at all levels in making the Society better for all.

    Governor Okowa reminded African leaders of the need to help in raising Youths that will be future leaders stressing that any Society without responsible Youths was in grave danger.

    The Chairman of the People's Democratic Party Delta South Senatorial District Chief Emma Amgbaduba who Chairman the event described the day as an opportunity to x-ray the performance and involvement of Youths in Nation building as wellstrategize on ways to reshape their future.

    Chief Amgbaduba said Youths with high population strength in elections needed to be empowered hence the need to carry them along in the scheme of things.

    The Chief press Secretary to the Delta State Governor Mr Aniagwu Charles said the Youths empowerment programmes of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was aimed at raising Youths to become entrepreneurs rather than leave them to beg for a living.

    The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Orentation Barrister Eugene Uzum charged Youths to rise up and take their position before they allow Elders to continue to occupy their positions.

    The Vice President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria South - South Zone Comrade Fuludu Raphael advised Delta Youths to work as a team in charting a new course for their today and tomorrow.

    The host of the event the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Youths Development who is also the Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria Delta State Chapter Comrade Hope George scored Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa high in the involvement of Youths in governance and his empowerment programmes.

    Comrade George said African Youth Day takes place every first of November as proclaimed and instituted on the occasion of the African Youth Charter adoption in the executive Council Decision of Banjul Summit in 2006.
    He said the day is to increase recognition of Youths as key agents for social change and economic growth in the African continent.

    Others who spoke including Honourable Innocent Esewenzie SSA/ Member representing Delta North Senatorial District in the Directorate of Orentation, Comrade Stanley Edokpolo Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly on Speach writing,  Comrade Ezekiel Okoh PA to the Delta State Governor on Students matters sued for synergy among stakeholders in the inculcation of right morals into Youths.

    The guest speaker of the day Ambassador Harrold Blankson a community development consultant and Special Adviser to the Delta State Youth Council dwell on the theme of this year celebration "Promoting Youth Mainstreaming as a Catalyst Towards Harnessing the Demographic Dividend".
