    GOV OKOWA SUBMITS NAMES OF CTDA MEMBERS

    The Delta State House of Assembly has received the names of nominees for consideration and confirmation of appointment as chairman and members of the Delta State Capital Territory Dev. Agency, Asaba from Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa.
    The names of the nominees was contained in a letter from Gov. Okowa and read by the Speaker, Rt Hon Monday Igbuya at today’s plenary.

    The nominees are a one-time-Commissioner Chief Tom Amioku, (Chairman) Chief Austin Igbine, Hon Chinwe Monu-Olarenwaju and Hon Sunny Emeyese as members.
    According to the governor in the executive letter, the composition of the board of the Delta State Capital Territory Dev. was in exercise of the power conferred on him by section (4) subsection (2) of the Delta State Capital Territory Dev. Agency Law.
    The Governor solicited the cooperation of the House for the screening and confirmation of the nominees.

    Invariably, the Majority Leader, Hon Tim Owhefere moved the House to receive the letter for other consideration, seconded by Hon. Evans Ivwurie and adopted.
    The speaker thereafter directed the nominees to submit (35) copies of their CV to the office of the clerk on or before Monday November 7, 2016 and should appear for screening on Tuesday November 8, 2016.
    Also at today's plenary, the House received a bill for re-alignment of 2016 approved budget from Gov. Okowa and passed the first reading.
    Gov. Okowa in a letter to the House said the realignment of the 2016 approved budget was to enable government deal with critical areas of need for which adequate provision were not made.
    He said the proposed realignment was essentially to the 2016 appropriation law and clearly stated in the schedule, stressing that the realignment of the N11 billion sort will not affect the total size of the approved budget as from additional and subtraction on schedule equated.

    He stressed that the proposed alignment of the 2016 approved budget being sort was for the House to effect necessary amendment of the 2016 appropriation law to approve fund for critical expenditure requirement of the state government The second reading would continue tomorrow.
    Also at today's plenary, a bill for a law to provide for Tenancy law of Delta State and to repeal Rent Control and Recovery of Residential Premises Law Cap R5 1997 titled Delta State Tenancy Bill passed first reading; the report of the Delta State Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) by the committee on Finance and Appropriation was deferred to tomorrow Wednesday Nov 2, 2016 while the report on ratification of the Warri-Effurun Water Scheme Concessional agreement by the committee on Water Resources; Rules, Business, Legal and Judicial matters was deferred to Thursday November 3, 2016. The Delta State Service Commission bill was equally deferred.
