Izeze intervenes In Gratuity Brouhaha ... Urges SUBEB To Pay Entitlements Of Late Soja

THE Majority Whip of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Comrade Reuben Izeze has called on the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board to pay all the entitlements of late Mr Soja Owho Joseph.

Hon. Izeze who is representing Ughelli South Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly in response to questions from Journalists in Asaba today, said it will be inhuman for the education board to deny the families of late Soja entitlements, especially, the gratuity of the deceased bread winner who served the state meritoriously before his demise.

"I can confirm to you that I have intervened on the matter because, we need to give hope to the people. Apart from the fact that the late Soja is from my constituency, Ughevwughe community in Ughelli South local government area, denying his family access to his entitlements will demoralize others who are still in the service," the lawmaker said.

He added, "I have looked at what transpired, which was really, paying salaries of the deceased for four months after he had passed on, and i have intervened by paying back the said amount, but, it will be injustice to keep denying the family the gratuity of their bread winner after all the requirements for the payment have been fulfilled."

Hon. Izeze who expressed confidence that the SUBEB would do the right thing by paying the gratuity of the deceased promptly, reiterated, "I am in touch with them (SUBEB), I have written letters to them and I am also, discussing with them verbally, believing that the family should not be subjected to more financial, emotional and psychological stress."

"I can assure you that the management of SUBEB will tow the line of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who believes that the right thing should be done and the less privileged should not be oppressed, marginalized or denied their dues because, they have no godfather elsewhere," Hon. Izeze added.
