*To Sponsor Christmas Celebrations for 500 disabled
In line with the SMART Agenda of the Delta State Government, the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Youth Mobilization For Positive Change, Hon. Christian Okpambor popularly known as the Apostle of Change in conjunction with Generation Okowa today hosted the Leadership of all the Physically Challenged Youths in Delta State to their first ever combined meeting to discuss on how best the State Government can make the forth coming Christmas celebrations a memorable one for them.The meeting which kicked off at about 11am had in attendance youths with disabilities from across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state.
In his opening speech, Hon. Okpambor who described them as the No. 1 citizens of the state because of their situation which they didn't ask for, reiterated the desire of the Okowa led administration to enthrone a legacy of Prosperity for All. "The Okowa led administration is one of a kind, this administration plans to carry everyone along, we are fully aware of the present economic quagmire within which the country has found itself and this government through its policy and activities would continue to do its possible best to ensure that you all have a memorable Christmas celebrations. We promise to sponsor the Christmas celebrations of 500 of you, 20 from each local government area of the state and by God's grace we hope this continues in subsequent years."
In response, the Leader of the Leprosy group, Mrs. Mary Aliemeke, appreciated the effort of the state government at carrying them along as this was the first time a government was planning on their welfare. "Previous Governments had not carried us along for anything, but this government through the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization For Positive Change has not only thought of us, but has brought us together to plan Christmas packages for us. This is the first of its kind, we appreciate Hon Christian Okpambor for finding the time to host us."
Comr. Okpogilor Johnson, the Leader of the Blind group prayed to God to bless the leadership of the state government. He further requested that the Governor should also consider them in future employments in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the deaf, Mr Idehenri Jolly thanked the Delta State Governor for finding them worthy to be worked with. "Previous governments had turned a blind eye to our dilemma, but since Governor Okowa came on board we have always been having genuine reasons to smile thanks to his policies and activities" he added.
