THE remains of foremost businessman, Olorogun Michael Ibru was laid to rest (14/12/16) with the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa calling for reconciliation among Nigerians in strict compliance with the words of God.
According to Governor Okowa who attended the funeral service of the late Ibru accompanied by a retinue of political office holders, reconciliation was very vital for a virile society where love for one another takes precedence.
Former Vice President Alex Ekwueme, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, Chief Edwin Clark, among others were among the dignitaries that attended the funeral service which took place at the All Saint's Cathedral Church, Ughelli, Delta State.
"We must reconcile ourselves to God and His words," Governor Okowa said, reiterating, "we must continue to pray for peace and find a way to impact on the life of others."
The governor used the occasion to admonish the children of the deceased to sustain the legacy of their father, noting that the deceased was a nationalist, a great man whose legacy should be sustained.
"The best you can do to sustain the legacy of your father (Olorogun Ibru) is to be humble in what you do, sustain your father's legacy, it is time to unite and forget the past," Governor Okowa admonished the late Ibru's children.
Primate of Anglican Church, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh described the deceased "as a national leader, a successful businessman and an educationist."
He urged Christians to work towards uplifting the standard of living of others while alive.
After the funeral service, the remains of Olorogun Ibru was taken to the Ibru Centre, Agbarho-Otor which was witnessed by Governor Okowa and other dignitaries from across the world.
