    PEACEFUL CO-EXISTENCE: Abuator Community Expels Obi


    TO ensure a peaceful community, the people of Umu-Iwelie and Abuator Community in Ndokwa East local government area of Delta State have expelled one Mr Richard Obi from their community.

    In a meeting held yesterday (Sunday, (04/12/16) at the community, Hon. Emmanuel Ogwu who is the Councillor representing Ward 8 in the local government council, said the banishment was necessary to forestall further bloodshed in the area.

    Hon. Ogwu presented copies of petitions written to the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the state which was copied the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Zone 5, Benin City, theCommissioner of Police, Delta State, the Department of State Services, among others intimating them of the murder of one ASP Gabriel Oputa allegedly by the said Mr Richard Obi, yet, the person involved has been left off.

    According to Hon. Ogwu who spoke on behalf of the community, "it is important that we banish Mr Obi, the security operatives have failed to curtail his excesses and he has threatened to unleash mayhem on the community despite the murder of our illustrious son, ASP Oputa."

    "The community cannot fold its hands and allow an individual to be have as if he is bigger than the community, not that he is attracting developmental projects but, taking the community backward by his nefarious activities," Hon. Ogwu said, reiterating, "the community has banished Mr Obi until the law takes its course and ensure that Justice is done for our deceased son and also, make sure that there is no threat to lives and property in our community."

    In the petition to the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Delta State, Mr Peter Mrakpor, signed by the Okpala-Uku of Abuator Community, Chief Ogene Oputa, the Chairman, Community Development Committee of the community, Pastor Ugo Olisa, and Secretary to Okpala-Uku in Council, Pastor Braddon Olisa, the community stated, "sometime in the month of June, 2016, our son, ASP Gabriel Oputa who came for a marriage ceremony of his younger sister was murdered in the presence of his wife; suffice it to say that the person fingered in this dastardly act by name Richard Obi who was arrested and detained, later charged to Magistrate Court, Ashaka and remanded at Kwale Prison awaiting prosecution for his sundry crimes, to our surprise and shock, with the weight of evidence, Mr Obi has been set free."

    "We, the members of Abuator community restates our confidence in the administration of Justice system in the state after waiting for 6 months to track down the accused person, Mr. Obi, we are worried because, Mr. Richard Obi has been boasting to all who cared to know that he would be released unconditionally and all charges against him will withdrawn without delay," they said, "
