It was a remarkable day yesterday, as the wife of the Honourable Commissioner for special Duties, Government House Asaba, Mrs Theresa Sakpra, led "Selected Friends" paid a visit to God's Care Orphanage home, at Otor Udu, in Udu local government Area of Delta state.
In companies with the wife of the Honourable commissioner, were distinguished women, that are members of the association.
The event was a remarkable one, as food items were presented by Mrs Sapkra, on behalf of the association. Among the food items that were presented are; Rice, Groundnut Oil, Milks, etc.
Speaking at the event, Mrs Sakpra appealed has to good spirited Nigerians to come to the aid of less privileged citizens in the society, especially the motherless babies and children orphaned by varying circumstances. “It was not the choice of these children that they are in their present condition. There is therefore the need for the rest of us to periodically visit these homes and attend to some of their special needs, encouraging them and giving them sense of belonging. This we should do by all means, she added.
Meanwhile, the God's Care orphanage home is a government approved organization that was established in the year 2011.
The authorities of the organization thanked the wife of the Honourable commissioner for special duties and the members of "Selected Friends" association, for their benevolence.
In addition, the leadership of the association "Selected Friends" also appealed to the state government to prioritise the welfare of the less privileged citizens of the state and Nigeria at large. As they specially thanked her excellency, Dame Edith Okowa, the wife of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State for the introduction of the 05 initiative programme. As they recounted some of the effects of the initiative in the society, today.
There is something you can do, no matter how little, can make the world a better place. Showing a little care and giving a little support to the less privileged, will make the world a better place, they added.
