COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF A MEETING OF STAKEHOLDERS AND LEADERS OF THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) DELTA STATE, ON SATURDAY, 25TH FEBRUARY, 2017

WHEREAS:

(A). Following the split judgement of the court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt on Friday, 17th February, 2017 which nullified the decision of the National Convention of 21st May, 2016, setting up the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee and reinstated the Sherrif-led National Working Committee, a meeting of Stakeholders and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, held in Abuja on Monday, the 20th day of February 2017.

(B). The meeting, amongst other things, enjoined all stakeholders and leaders of the Party to return to their various geo-political Zones, States, Local Government Areas and Wards, to convene meetings of the Party and disseminate the decisions of the parley to members.

(C). The Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), in furtherance of the above, convened a meeting of Stakeholders and Leaders of the Party on Saturday, 25th February, 2017 to review the state of the Party in the State.

(D). The meeting had in attendance, the Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State, His Excellency. Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Deputy Governor of Delta State, former Governors and Deputy Governors of the State, Board of Trustees Members, National Assembly members, Speaker, Deputy Speaker and members of the State House of Assembly, Former National and State Assembly members,  Commissioners, Local Government Council Chairmen and Vice Chairmen, Chairmen and members of Governing Councils, Chairmen and members of Boards and Parastatals,  All Senior/Special Advisers, other Government appointees  and other critical stakeholders who are still members of the Party from Wards to Zonal levels in the State.

NOW THEREFORE:

After very robust and comprehensive deliberations, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Delta State stakeholders and leaders noted and firmly resolved as follows:


1. That the decision of the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt has nothing to do with the Wards, Local Government Areas, State and Zonal levels.

2. That while the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Delta State, holds the judiciary in the highest regard, we fully endorse the prompt and proactive decision of the National Caretaker Committee to lodge an appeal to the Supreme Court of Nigeria against the decision of the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt on the 17th of February, 2017, in a split decision in CA/PH/349/2016 SHERRIF & ORS. Vs. PDP & ORS, as well as filing an application for INJUCTION PENDING APPEAL all of which was done in the morning of Monday 20th February 2017.
3. That in recognition of the fact that both an appeal to the Supreme Court and an application for Injunction Pending Appeal have been duly filed in the morning of Monday the 20th February 2017, we pass a resounding vote of ABSOLUTE confidence in the leadership of the Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party and pledge our unalloyed support to it as it pilots the affairs of the party in this critical period of the party’s history.
4. That the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Delta State, also passes a Vote of confidence on our leader, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa (Ekwueme), Executive Governor of Delta State, the South/South Zonal leadership of the Party under Elder Emmanuel Ogidi, the Olorogun (Barr.) Kingsley Esiso led Executive of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State, as well as all our Local Government Area and Ward Committees.
5. The meeting enjoined  all stakeholders, leaders of the party and true party men and women to remain calm, steadfast and loyal, even in the face of wanton provocation and to return to their Local Government Areas and Wards to convene meetings of the Party, disseminate the foregoing to members, and be fully committe.
