    IBORI VOWS TO RESOLVE UPU CRISIS


    Chief James Onanefe Ibori has vowed to make deliberate efforts to see that the crisis ravaging the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) is resolved.


    Leadership tussles between Chief Joe Omene and Chief Moses Taiga have torn the UPU in shambles, but the former Delta state governor has sworn to weigh in to make sure fraying nerves are calmed.

    Chief Ibori made the commitment to resolve the leadership tussle facing Nigeria’s oldest socio-cultural organization founded in 1931 known during Urhobo Youth Leaders’ Association (UYLA) solidarity visit to the former Delta state governor over his safe return from the United Kingdom.

    TheNewsGuru reports that the move by Chief Ibori was part of the issues raised by the Urhobo political group, UYLA, during the visit.

    In their separate presentations, UYLA’s National President, Comr. Arhiyor; the National Secretary Comr. Oyibode; the Special Assistant to Governor Okowa on Special Duties, Engr. Atiti, and UYLA’s BoT Chairman, Chief Adehor, called on the two time executive governor of Delta state to intervene in resolving the problem of fractionalization in the apex body of the Urhobo people.

    Elated Chief Ibori thanked the Group for the support and promised to ensure speedy settlement of the UPU leadership crisis between Chief Joe Omene and Chief Moses Taiga for the benefit of the Urhobo people.

    TheNewsGuru recalls members of the UYLA visited Chief Ibori, known for resource control and true federalism, in Dubai and in London when he was in prison.

    The executives and members of UYLA present at the visit are Comrades Francis Arhiyor, Godwin Okproko, Vincent Oyibode, Austin Atiti, Anthony Ofoni, Sunday Subi, William Atagana, Julius Okri, Ambrose Ologide and Abigail Opueke.

    Others are Moses Darah, Ruth Efemini, Douglas Ogibo, Esther Nwosu, Emmanuel Umukoro, Omiemie Adibor, Eguono Balogun and Prince Julius Obelikpeyah.

    Chiefs Westham Adehor, Isaac Emifoniye (JP), Amb. Samuel Onajomo, Amb. (Mrs) Mercy Awhana and Sir Sylvester Okumagba were also present.

    Franklin Edevbie, Ernest Nikoro and Linda Ikpuri were also in attendance to prevail on the former governor to bring peace to the UPU.
