    WORLD KIDNEY DAY: AZINGE RAISES AWARENESS ON HARMFUL CONSEQUENCE OF OBESITY


    The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Sir (Dr.) Nicholas Azinge has advocated for a healthy lifestyle amongst Deltans in celebration of the 2017 annual World Kidney Day, which had as it's theme; "Kidney Disease and Obesity."

    Dr Azinge, who also disclosed the disadvantages of obesity at his office today while addressing newsmen, stated that "weight loss can result in improved control of diabetes"

    "with this year's theme we intend to promote education on the harmful consequences of obesity and its association with kidney disease, advocate a healthy lifestyle and recommend healthcare strategies for tackling the burden of Obesity and kidney disease amongst Deltans."

    "the state government has established renal dialysis centre with state of the art facilities at Central Hospital Warri and the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH) Oghara" He said.

    The Honourable Commissioner further called on corporate bodies, public spirited individuals and non-governmental organisations to partner with the state government in the delivery of qualitative and affordable health care to Deltans, adding that "the best means to fight chronic Kidney disease is prevention by treating all of its possible risk factors, such as obesity."
