Senator (Barr.) Peter O. Nwaoboshi, the distinguished senator representing Delta north at the National Assembly, was born on June 29, 1957.
He attended Sacred Heart primary school, Ibusa, 1964-69, St Thomas' teachers' college, Ibusa, 1970-75. He taught at Morka primary school, Obiaruku, 1976-77 and Ikelike primary school, Ogwashi-Uku, 1978-79.
He studied history at the Ambrose Alli university, Ekpoma, Edo state, 1986. Same year he got admitted to study law at the university of Benin, Benin city, Edo state. Where he obtained LLB (HONS) in 1989. He got Barrister at law (BL) from the Nigerian law school, Lagos, in 1990. In 2013, he got his masters in law (LLM) from the Delta state university, Abraka.
While in Ambrose Alli university, he received some awards viz:
*Best graduating students in research methodology, department of history* *William lavender prize for the best graduating student in Soviet History, department of history* and *William Lavender prize for the best student in Soviet History*
He started his political journey as Administrative Assistant, state secretariat, Benin city of the Unity party of Nigeria, (UPN). In 1979, he became Political Secretary to prof. Ambrose Alli, the then governor of Bendel state. 1991-93, he was Special Assistant to Alhaji Shehu Musa, chairman, Equtiy Meridean Bank. He was also the party chairman of the National Republican convention ( NRC), 1991-93. Senator Peter Nwaoboshi was the founding secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), 1998-99. First political Adviser to H.E. James O. Ibori, 1999. Commissioner for Agriculture & Natural resources, 2001-2003 and later, Commissioner for Special duties, Abuja. He was chairman, Raw Material research Development Council, Abuja, 2006-2007.
In 2008 he became the first Anioma person to become the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He was re-elected in 2012, thus being also the first to hold such post two consecutive times. Within this period he was appointed into the board of the Nigerian Export Import Bank ( NEXIM) in 2013, by former president Goodluck Jonathan.
He was a member of PDP national constitution review committee.
Today, he represents the good people of Anioma nation at the Senate.
He is the chairman, Senate committee on Niger Delta Affairs and member of several other senate committees.
