    SEEK FOR APPROVAL BEFORE ERECTING STRUCTURES IN DELTA STATE - COMMISSIONER FOR LANDS AND SURVEYS ADVISES DEVELOPERS



    The commissioner for lands and Surveys Hon Chika Ossai has charged Delopers to always  go for their building approval before  erecting any structure.

     Hon Chika Ossai gave the charge today when he led a team of his ministry to Area planning offices at Ogwashi Uku, Issele Uku. Agbor Obiarukwu and Abraka.

           At Abraka in Ethiope  East local government Area, the commissioner frowned at a situation where developers build without building approval and urged the Area planning officer to issues defaulters with demolition notice.

        Hon Chika Ossai reaffirmed the commitment of the ministry in getting the State rid off illegal structures.

         He reminded developers that local Government Authority have  no right to approve  building plans adding that  only ministry of lands and Surveys as well as Area planning offices have the power to approve building plans.

       The commissioner urged Area planning officers to increase their revenue drive so as to boost the internally generated revenue of the State.

        Hon chika Ossai appealed to traditional Rulers to assist  the State government in creating awareness on the importance of Certificate of occupancy to developers in their domain.

         He assured the staff in the area planning offices that their challenges will be looked into with a view to solving them.

          In all the offices visited  the Area planning officers  appealed to the commissioner help them with official vehicles, office equipment, deployment of more staff to Area planning offices and payment of their house rent.
