THE Governor of Delta state, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has reiterated the commitment of the state Government at ensuring the safety of life and property in the state. Gov. Okowa who was represented by his Senior Political Adviser, Chief Festus Ochonogor made this known today at the Asaba 2017 New Yam Festival.
"This Government has always taken as a priority the safety of lives and properties of those residing at its clearly defined geographical boundaries. What happened recently in Abraka, before Okwe should be no call for alarm, the state Government is not relenting in it commitment to ensuring that security is not breached in any area of the state."
While appreciating the Asaba people for being a good host to the state capital Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa requested the younger generation not to make jest of the traditions and cultural way of the kingdom because of western education noting that they had a history to pass onto future generations.
Assuring the people of the governments commitment to the development of Asaba as a capital, he noted that the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency was a confirmation of he Government's plans to make the state capital a befitting one adding that "the cordial relationship being enjoyed by the state government and the people of Asaba should be maintained so as to maximise the benefits being a state capital"
In his response, Chief P.I.G Onyeobi who represented the Azagba of Asaba, thanked all for coming to celebrate the new yam festival, he especially thanked his Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for honoring the invitation, Executive Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area, Pastor Chucks Obusom and the people of Asaba, adding that "Gov. Okowa has recorded infarstural development in the state capital and the people of Asaba would continue to support this administration and the smart Agenda which is aimed at enthroning a legacy of prosperity for all Deltans".
