In furtherance of the Delta State Government desire of always putting the women interest in the front burner of Governor Okowa's Smart Administration, through the various health and educational programmes and as well as diverse empowerment programmes, the Delta State Acting Governor His Excellency Barr. Kingsley Otuaro on Saturday 4th November 2017, commissioned the Women Development Centre at Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State. As the AC Governor was ably represented by Barr. Ernest Ogwezzy, Honourable Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties.
The AC Governor commended the Ndokwa Daughters and Wives Association for the gesture in building the centre at a time when unemployment has become a major challenge across the Nation. Stating that the gesture is truly worthy of emulation by all spirited organisations everywhere.
He said that the centre will go a long way in promoting skill acquisition amongst the women and female youths. "Today, the challenge of poverty eradication is so enormous that a realistic approach out of the circle of poverty requires collaborative efforts of the government, its agencies, public spirited organisations and the private sector".
However, he encouraged the members of the Association to partner and key into the various programmes of the state government, particularly the Delta State Microcredit programme.
More so, he advised the prospective beneficiaries to endeavour to make maximum use of whatever skills they will receive in the centre.
He commended Ndokwa Daughters and Wives Association for complementing the State Government commitment to empowering women and the youths and urged youths in the state to acquire new skills that will support and enhance their entrepreneurship.
Barr. Ernest Ogwezzy on behalf of the Governor congratulated the Association, and disclosed that it is an honour and privilege for him to officially commission the Ndokwa Daughters and Wives Association " Women Development Centre" to the glory of God and to the benefits of the people
