RE - COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE GENERAL MEETING OF AMAI PEOPLE AT THE INSTANCE OF THE AMAI DEVELOPMENT UNION (ADU) HELD AT THE PALACE OF THE LATE IGWETE OF AMAI (EZE MONDAY OSSAI OF BLESSED MEMORY) IN AMAI-NGE ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2018

    February 23, 2018.

The attention of Amai Traditional Council has been drawn to a misleading and malicious article published by one Mr Alfred Onyeweosa and five others, via the Pointers Newspapers on 20th February 2018, with the above caption.
Ordinarily, we should have remained mute, but in other to put the record straight and to inform the general public on the need to discard the publication, which is totally characterised with propaganda and rebellion.

For the purpose of enlightenment to the general public in regards to the  Igwete Stool:

    1. We state emphatically that Amai Development Union under the leadership of Mr Alfred Oduwe came to power on April 19th 2014 and their tenure had since expired since April 2017.
Amai Traditional Council had since written to devolve them, therefore any meetings or decision reached by this executive regarding Amai Kingdom is noll, void and illegal.

    2. It is absolutely illegal for the Development Union to dabble into issues concerning the Igwete Stool as there is no such authority empowering them to do so by the Gazette No. 44 vol 6 of 17 November 1996 establishing the Igwete Stool.

    3. The Gazette in paragraph 4 gave authority to the Inotus  and the Ikpalas to choose who becomes the King of Amai.

    4. None of these individuals who held this illegal meeting are Inotus or Ikpalas who are the King Makers.

    5. It is true, High Chief Andrew Ikogwe was rejected by the entire Amai King Makers, for fraudulently presenting himself to the entire Amai King Makers with a forged documents bearing the thumb print of late Mark Emu the Okpala-Uku of Umuekum Ruling House on the 14th of November 2012 who died  earlier, in 2010, all he manipulated through his office as Regent.

    6. HRH Paul Solomon Ifenezhiuche  in accordance to paragraph 4 of the Gazette was duly presented to Amai King Makers on the 14th November 2012 by the Head of Umuekum Ruling House, Okwa Azum Obanashim who then was the Ukor-Okpala of Umuekum Ruling House and was genuinely accepted by the Amai people, there  after  Crowned by the Okpala-Uku of Amai-Nge as provided by paragraph 7 of the Gazette 44 volume 6 1996.

    7.  Umuekum Ruling House shouldn't be given 14 days for representation of candidates for the Stool as there was no disapproval in the presentation made by the Ekum Head of the Ruling House.

Amai Traditional Council urge the general public to disregard this group of renegades  masquerading themselves as leader of Amai with mischievous intentions/publication to mislead the general public. As efforts are ongoing for their sanctions and possible arrest.
