    OKOWA CHARGES DELTA RESIDENTS ON PEACEFUL CO-EXISTENCE .......AS AREWA GROUP ENDORSE HIM FOR SECOND TERM



    Delta State Governor, Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has called on residents in the state to eschew all forms of violence and always live in peace and harmony as it is the only panacea to development.

    The Governor made the call on Tuesday at Cable Point Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area when he visited leaders of the Arewa Group in the state.

    Governor Okowa who was represented by his Senior Political Adviser, Chief. Festus Ochonogor noted that the Delta State Government will continue to give the Arewa Group the needed support in all areas.

    According to the Governor, "My government has been so friendly with the Hausa community in the state and I want us to continue to work together no matter the challenges.

    "We should learn to live in peace and harmony amongst ourselves and treat each other with love and respect. The State Government will always provide an enabling environment for the Hausa people to go about their various businesses in the state.

    "We have considered non-indigenes in appointments into several boards in the state and we are pleading with you to continue to live peacefully as Government will not tolerate any form of violence from any person or group of persons in the state. As leaders you should assist the Government in fishing out bad eggs among those who are bent on terrorising farmers in the state", Okowa said.

    Alhaji Ibrahim Babagero, Chairman Northern Traditional Council Delta State, assured the Governor that Leaders of the group will do everything within their powers to call erring members to order while thanking the Governor for finding time to celebrate Sallah with them, noting that, "Since our settlement in Delta state, this is the first time the state government has come to celebrate with us and we must express our gratitude to the Governor for this gesture done to us".

    Awolo Tukur , one of the leaders of the group also thanked the Governor for coming to celebrate Sallah with them noting that, " The State Government has been good to us, the Cable road which we enjoy today is courtesy of His Exellency, He has built healthcare centers for us and also gave us 12 parcels of land and we must say we are grateful.

    "For his kind gesture towards us and the state in general, we are calling on him to re-contest the 2019 gubernatorial election as we have resolved to give him our total support", he said.

    The Speaker, Asaba Traditional Council, Oghueshi Uche Nwajei, and Sir. Onoi Ahaba were present during the meeting.
